Something Being Manufactured In The Rumor Mill

On Hockey Buzz.com, Eklund is reporting that Jarret Stoll could come to Boston (e2). An e2 is defined as:
is simply more than one reliable sources not in any way directly connected to the players or teams involved and not connected to each other. It does not have to equate to two e1’s. It could be several e1’s.
An e1 is a rumor that comes from a single reliable source not in any way directly connected to the players or teams involved.

Stoll is most likely not the missing piece to the puzzle that is a Stanley Cup contender however, he would be a welcomed piece. Since I have not seen Stoll play much because he is on the west coast of Canada I looked up what he has to offer online. Sportsnet.ca's scouting report on Jarret Stoll is as follows:

Assets
Has excellent two-way ability and sound leadership qualities. Also possesses a wicked shot and plenty of grit. Can play the point on power plays.

Flaws
Needs to show more consistency in order to take his game to the next level. Could stand to slow things down and not rush things in the offensive zone.

Career Potential
Second line center

For the right price, sign me up. I love those assets and I think that those flaws could be dealt with for the better. I just don't want Chiarelli to deal away the farm system for a guy like this. But, for something like a pick and Peter Schaefer (who probably just needs a change of scenary because Boston isn't working for him) I'm all for it.

Notes: Stoll serves as an alternate captain in Edmonton. The only thing that makes me nervous is that he is a minus 17. Despite that, I think Julien's system can bring that one down.

I have to agree with you, Stoll would be a nice addition especially if he can be had with only giving up a player like Shaeffer or one of the spare defenceman, Bobby Allen. This week should be interesting.

As usual, i laugh when i see rumours come out from hockeybuzz. I don't see that happenning since the B's will have to give quality in return. I don't see how Allen, Scheafer or Alberts ( as an example ) fit that description. If the Bruins make a move, it will be a minor one and i doubt that they will be succesful in their attemp to unload salary...

I completely agree with you Latrappe. I take Eklund's rumors about as serious as I take politicians.

How many of Eklund's rumors actually come true? Not too many...if any. Though it is nice to finally the see the B's being involved in them, we'll see what happens. I agree that if there is a deal it'll be a minor one. Usually if the B's are in a big deal, we get the raw end of it...
Any takers for Schaefer and Fernandez...

how about ference?

Jarret Stoll is also a great face-off man. He learned a lot from Adam Oates while he was here in Edmonton.

Ference? I don't know. He's only -5 and when you consider all the injuries among the blueline, i think he did fairly good. Having Rookies or young players at the blueline took his toll and, one way or the other, and i'm not convince that the bruins are that deep at the blueline that they can trade Ference. Ference contract is cap friendly so i think it would be a bad idea to trade Ference at this point.

Bochenski placed on waivers by Anaheim today. I'm sure they are about to do something ??

I would be interested to see if Chia does any salary dumps (Muzz, Fernandez, Stuart and Ward) - to get some cash and make a run for Hossa and/or Campbell in the offseason. I am not dreaming, but I think to truly sign in Boston, both have a legitimate chance. If you truly look at this team, they can barely make it in the playoffs (and do we foresee anything more than a rough first round against the Habs or Sens?) So think, dump the salary now that there's a want (also because cup contenders just have to give up their doghouse players or picks). Then, knowing that it's open season on Hossa or Capmbell - make a nice pitch for them in July. This team needs a high scorer - and bless Savrd's heart - he can't do it alone. And to give up some players to rent Hossa - might give us an erection for a month - when Hossa can go anywhere come July 1.

Chia can probably find a taker for Ward and Stuart but good luck with Fernandez, who didn't played this year, and Glenn " always injuried " Murray. The team is stuck with both and their 4 per contract...

Aaron Ward's contract hit is fairly high, but he's also been a responsible solid d-man this year.
He's also a 'character' guy in the room. I'd hate to see him leave - even with the contract he has.

Well, if you're about to dump salary, you have to dump a player who will generate interest. Even if ward is doing a good job, the Bruins are stuck with hefty contracts and when you are in this position, you have to make painful decision. As farr as i'm concern, Bergy isn't going anywhere and the same apply to Chara and Savard. Murray and Fernandez are unmoveable...

Good point, but if you're dumping a decent player for the purpose of cap space, you'd better ensure you're getting something decent in return. A guy like Marian Hossa is a great player, but if you don't have him locked up for a few years, there's no point in wasting assets on 20 games.

Dawreck, i see your point but if the Bruins need cap space they will have to make a swap like the Scheafer-Donovan... When you look at it, there's very few players who earn to justify a salary dump and who will generate interest. Murray's contract was a mistake and Chiarelli should have dumped him at the draft, last summer. Fernandez despite what 99,9999 of the fans says is a good keeper and if he get healthy, it will give the team an edge...

Definitely. If Manny can get back to the level he was at in Minnesota, the Bruins have a great 1-2 combo.
