'Canes 3 - Bruins 2

A lackluster game for the black and gold. I am really disappointed by what I saw overall. There was a lot of puck watching like it was squirt hockey, there was no answer to the speed of Carolina, and the Bruins did absolutely nothing. Even the two goals were a little bogus. The Bruins needed the momentum of a cheap goal in the first, not the last five minutes of the third. However, the first Bruins goal is a lesson to all the youngsters out there.
"It is never a bad idea to put a puck on net because anything can happen in front."
I'd like to hear everyone else's take about the game tonight because I am too tired and too frustrated to go on a major rant here. B's have to bounce back tomorrow night in Pittsburgh.

They were just plain out-worked. Instead of digging down and getting their hands dirty, the Bruins tried bomb passes and quick shots. Instead of a complete game, they looked as if they were hoping for a bounce their way. The only bright spot I could see was Marc Savard. The guy had good hustle and some amazing passes. He somehow keeps the puck on a string and sets himself up for great plays, but there was no help.

Marc Savard needs a TRUE trigger-man.

I missed the game....only saw the highlights. Ward did make some unreal saves on at least 3, what should have been goals !!

What does everyone think.....I know it is fun to talk trades, but I really think P.C. is not going to do anything ???

I have a feeling he'll make at least one trade. I'm not sure if it'll be anything substantial, but I'm sure he'll work the active market. Hopefully unload some salary in Ward and Schaefer? Those guys could be valuable as 'role' players for a serious cup run. I do like how Aaron Ward has played, but he's a dead weight as far as his salary is concerned

Yeah...I agree, those guys could go. I'm just worried the great start and middle of the year is about to get wasted !! I do agree not to trade the future for a quick fix....however I want to watch a damn Play-off game !!

The Bruins have played some intense hockey this year (much imporved over last year) - but they've found a problem. The teams around them have upped their game. They have been playing playoff hockey for about a month now, while the Bruins are content with playing their good old game. Won't work. It's amazing when you see how they played that third period in Buffalo or even the third last night - but they can't play it for 60 minutes. I think mentally they are done (yes they are). The team is looking for a saviour to arrive, which won't. And then it's just a matter of time before trade jitters hit the team. This season can get ugly and ugly fast. HUGE 5 road games coming up. Anything short of winning 4/5 pretty much means the team is done for the year. Don't care about stats, points and being mathematically in - if they check out of the season in their heads, then they're out. And a note to Krejci - do not shoot the puck into the goaltender's glove.

well I have to admit I almost turned the game off I was so pissed with what i saw. Mark Stuart has to step up he is playing lakadasical, Schaffer didn't play and he still irritated me, I don't know what Kessel is doing but man do a different move. There are others you could single out but I am just ticked cause I know they can play better. And why is Auld in nets man he makes me nervous, rebounds, bobbles sheeeeeeeeesh make a move already.

B's once again made a goalie look stupendous. Kudos for Ward to have his glove in the high % location but shame on the Bs for not hitting the open spots. That bogus call on Carolinas second goal changed the whole face of the game. That goal gets called as it should have (no goal) and the Bs are playing a different style only down by 1.

Samsonov - why can't we get players like that?
Aaron Ward - Leads the team in +-
Chara - takes another stupid penalty at the worst possible time
Thornton - when he is the only goal scorer, we know this team is in trouble
Auld - Cannot fault him for any of the goals
Savard - must really be getting frustrated. I hope he doesn't ask for a trade
Sturm - worst game I have seen him play all year
Lucic - only one that seemed to want to win (besides Savard)
Others - nothing to say except they sucked

It would be a bad idea to make a move only because the team underachieve. With all the injuries they had, it's a miracle that the team is still in the playoffs race. Chiarelli must sit tight and keep the core intact for next year. There's no need to panic...

I think its fair to say they should have picked up Samsonov

After this last drought i almost hope they make a trade that will help them more next year when they have begeron back.

Schaefer is a waste of money. 2 million for an average of 30 points a season, gimme a break. He seems as if he doesn't even like playing the game. As for Sammy, that was a stupid move on our part to let him go to Edmonton, and for who, Reasoner? Dumb move. He never really had any slumps in Boston, and think of how well he'd be playing on a line with Bergy or Kess.

I think it was more Samsomov's injury history and pending UFA status that forced the trade. Did we get enough for him? No, but it was better than letting him walk or overpaying him.

Chia walked away from getting Sammy at a fraction of the price before Carolina picked him up. When your team needs "Scoring"? I don't think it could have hurt much to bring him in. I agree, do not expect any deals, maybe some little ones. I would not be surprised to see Ward go to a contender for a couple of so so defencemen. That Chara penalty was not a penalty - just that he's so tall, most players just skate into his elbows. Like I always said, there's no way he should be called for high sticking - who's he high sticking?

When we traded Samsonov to Edmonton we also got the draft pick that lead us to Lucic, so I think it was a good move

I believe Carolina was lower in the standing when Samsonov came back thru waivers and had a shot at him before the Bs did.

Let's be real, Samsonov was doing nothing when we got rid of him. You can't fault the Bruins for unloading him. That's the way it goes.....Boyes sure as hell would look good in a B's jersey now too !?!?! What's done is done !!

Sammy always had potential tho, who we got in return didn't.

I wish they picked up Recchi too.
