Bruins 5 - Panthers 4 SO

The Bruins pull off a much need extra point in a 5-4 shootout victory over the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida. The Bruins are now in a three way tie for sixth with the Rangers and the Sabres at 68 points.

Ladies and gentlemen, your all-star for the game is Alex Auld. Coming into a game cold and not surrendering a goal in the third period, overtime, or the shootout secured this honor. Auld made some big saves after filling in for Thomas's two period dismal effort. Thomas made 8 saves on 12 shots while Auld stopped all 15 shots he faced and stopped two of the three shooters in the shootout as the final shooter missed the net. Excellent night for Auld to step up.

The Bruins played pretty well overall tonight. Unfortunately, they made major mistakes that lead to goals. Other than that, they were playing sound, intense hockey. These mistakes have to be cut down if they want to cause any raucous in the playoffs. This team showed a lot of heart battling back after being down by two goals through two. It can be very frustrating being down by two after putting 30 shots on goal and only two going in as Vokoun played on his head in the first two stanzas. I am a firm believer in countless shots on goal, whether it is a weak or a strong opportunity it can weather a goaltender and it showed tonight as Vokoun began to look a bit lackadaisical as the high shot total took it's toll (final tally for Boston: 48)

Hopefully the Thrashers saw Kessel put the puck into the net and will pull the trigger on Hossa coming to Boston. I really think it would truly make a difference.

All the Bruins have to do is knock off the stupid mental break downs and this team could make a push for the third round. I know it's wishful thinking and a lot has to come together but, I think it is entirely possible but, if, and only if everything comes together.

I only saw that last half of the game but they looked good. I am nervous about this years deadline because this team has a lot of potential going forward. I am hearing ryan suter and the bruins from a couple of sites. I dont know much about him. Any info?

Ryna Suter is like a Dennis Wideman. Young and has that transition aspect that the B's need. If Nashville wouldn't mind Stuart and maybe another young D - I'd do it. I like the rally by the B's yesterday. We can't afford to lose another game.

They played well. I like the fact we are generating offense but i also wonder if the number of shots we are getting is a reflection of the defensive breakdowns. Chara's pinch in the final seconds of the second period wasn't smart, but I am not going to tell him that ha ha. We just need to find that balance. GOOOOOOOOO Bruins
