Wideman Signing Confirmed

The Dennis Wideman signing is finally official. He signed a 4 year deal worth $15.5 million total with a $3.825 million annual cap hit which should be a steal in the final year of his contract. This is slightly less than what was reported yesterday on sportsnet.ca. He will receive $3.25, $3.75, $4, and $4.75 million dollars over the course of the contract respectively.

There will be a 3-day "Quiet" period then a 48-hour buyout period for the Bruins to get themselves under the cap as they are now $1,536,666 over the $56.7 million cap limit. They do not have to be below $56.7 million until the start of the regular season.

"One of the tools we have is the buyout, and that could be anybody," said GM Peter Chiarelli. "Another tool is a trade or sending players to the minors."

I just visited that bruins rumor site/blog and it still sucks. I made a pitch to have the frustrated readers come here because it would be cool to get more comments from people.

On the Wideman deal being official. I like this deal. I don't think we have seen the best of Widey and he was solid last season.
