B's & 'Hawks Exchange Centers

The Bruins acquired center Martin St. Pierre from the Chicago Blackhawks today in return for center Pascal Pelletier. St. Pierre will most likely spend the majority of the time in Providence but, he can provide extra depth (as if they need depth at center) in injury situations.

McKeon's Take: This certainly doesn't bring the cup to Boston but, it will help out the development program down in the AHL. Here is St. Pierre's stats/scouting report. From an AHL/depth perspective, I like this move. St. Pierre has definitely had some very successful seasons in the AHL. I really have a feeling that Chiarelli is up to something because he has been quite busy in the last 48 hours.

Actually I heard it at hockeybuzz.com yesterday. Which means it probably won't happen.

Hmm.. Does not make any sense to me. Pelletier was PBs highest scoring forward and in fact led the league for much of the season. I did not even think he was signed, unless I missed something.

Something is amiss here....

from the Bruins web site.

St. Pierre - 211 regular season AHL games 71-189-260

Pelletier - 206 regular season AHL games 71-99-170

and since B's have had a tough time resigning Pelletier it makes some sense

Ok. So the numbers look a bit better and I thought they were having some difficulty signing him. Good move then by Chia, aimed more at the AHL level than NHL.

Ya he's definitely not going to play in the NHL next year. I think he will help out in Providence big time though since they are so damn young down there

As far as Bowmeester goes, who could/would they trade to get him and still have room under the cap? They could not trade any top forwards as they are hurting for goal scorers already and if they trade prospects they still wont have cap space. I don't see it, but maybe I am just blind.

i have a feeling they may offer up lashoff and a first rounder and schaef maybe? maybe im just being naive but its a hope anyway

So his (Bouwmeester) salary is $2.25mil and the Bs, once Murray is gone are about 1.2 under tha Cap so someone off the current NHL roster of significant value would have to go. Sure, we would all want Schafer to go but let's be realistic.. who would want him?

Not a likely trade to me, especially when Eklund uses his dog to make his picks.

...good to see ESPN still has no respect for us...behind tampa/carolina/sabres? i mean give me a freaking break all we did in the offseason was take a old washed up player off the roster for a younger version of him...and that makes us #11 in the east
? get bent espn

they show Arena Football League as well...
I actually wrote an email to them when I saw they picked up AFL over the NHL...it probably didn't go to anyone but it felt good to let the frustration out...
