Throw That Red Shirt In The Bin Bergy

Fan favorite, Patrice Bergeron, has been cleared for full contact and according to our good friend Fluto, he is taking part in battle drills. Despite the clearance, Peter Chiarelli stated that Bergeron will not be suiting up for game one.

McKeon's Take- I am not sure how I feel about this whole situation. On one side, you have one of the franchise's top players coming back from a serious injury but, on the other hand, you have someone that, on the wrong hit could go right back to where he started in October. The playoffs are extra physical and no one wants Bergy to get hurt again. Ultimately, myself and the rest of Bruins Nation need to trust the medical staff and Patrice's honesty on how he feels. This is a very, very big step in the right direction for Bergy. We all should be proud!

I agree with you 100%. Knowing what montreal is like, ie begin, I wouldn't put it past him to cheap shot Bergy. This is great news. Even if he doesnt make it back this year, look out next season. On another note, I was a little disappointed we didnt get Manny in for a game before the season ended. It would have been nice to see what he can do. Damn wouldn't it be nice to eliminate the Habs.....

I am not sure I would ever be 100% comfortable "whenever" Bergeron came back but I suppose it has to be some time. I would really be surprised if we see him in round 1. I will tell you one thing though, things will get REAL ugly REAL fast if any cheezy-assed cheap shotting HAB takes a run at him. If it did, I would care much less about winning and take out as many Habs as possible. Forgo the game, beat the living crap out of them and come back in the next game with even more motivation.

They are a very talented team but are also a bunch of dirty cowards.

Let's hope for Bergeron's health. Go B's.

Wow. Speechless. One even slight hit or pile up in the net and who knows. I don't think any Habs player, as bad as they are, would be thinking in their head - let's put Bergie back in the hospital. Unclassy from such a storied franchise. However, they will not go lightly on him, that's for sure. I hope Julien starts him off no the Third line, maybe the PP, maybe the PK while he gets his legs and timing back. I think the pure presence of Bergie will inspire this team - much like Koivu's return from Cancer in 2002. Wow. I hope he feels 100% when he's back, because he's going to make this team better! I stand pat - Bruins in 6!

I have a question. Can Bergie play a game or two in Providence (like a Sox player going to Pawtucket) or are there stricter rules about that?

This is great news and should be a bit of morale booster for the team seeing him skating with them again. REVENGE TIME BABY, LETS KICK SOME BUTT!!!

Ok I predicted Montreal at Tha Gardan now I'll predict Bergie back for game 3 just like Bourque returning against the Whalers, correct me if I'm wrong but did he get the winning goal in game 7 of that series too

This is really messed up. It looks like none of the games will be on NESN. WTF are we supposed to do? So because the Red Sox are back playing baseball NESN dumps the NHL playoffs? Tha is messed up. I say we give NESN hell! Anyone know who to contact there?

Bergie can't go down for a conditioning stint, same as Manny. The only way Julien can do this is slowly introduce him back into the game, start off on third line, second, etc. Having lived in Montreal, I can tell you this - if Boston wins on Thursday, the media will rip the Habs a new one and start to crap on them. THAT plus a Bergie return, could be what we need. Bergie coming back means Sturm should wake up, Kessel too. I think I have overestimated Muzz - great sniper, great shot, but slow yes. Keep him cocked for one timers and grinding. Listening to the B's I sense they know what needs to be done, which is assuring. And now way is a Bruins playoff game more important that Sox/Yanks and soon the Celtics run. I wonder how it will feel is the Bruins return home on Sunday having taken one of the two games to an empty gahden, or worse, full of Habs fans - because everyone is watching the Sox. I don't know. Wish game 1 was tomorrow.
