Hunwick Resigns

Today, the Boston Bruins and defenseman Matt Hunwick avoided arbitration and came to an agreement on a two year contract with an annual cap hit 0f $1.45 million. The Bruins were looking for a puck-moving defenseman and they stayed within the organization to fill the void.

McKeon's Take: I am very happy with this signing. Hunwick has shown a lot of promise in such a short period of time with the big club. The Bruins needed someone who can generate a breakout with the pass as well as with his legs. The only issue that is left is Phil Kessel. The remaining cap space does not seem to be enough to sign Kessel who wants to cash in on a big pay day (and deservingly so). A move will have to be made to either keep Kessel or send him packing. Either way, something has got to give here...
